This week, Rotarians from Sioux Falls Rotary South participated in Read Across America week at Cleveland Elementary School. Read Across America week coincides with National Read Across America Day held on March 2nd (also known as Dr. Seuss’ Day).

Rotarians were treated like royalty as they read to multiple grade levels at Cleveland Elementary. Once Rotarians read their favorite stories to the students, they received a tour of the school by a member of the student council.

This event is just one of many community service activities supported by the Rotary club here and elsewhere in South Dakota demonstrating how “Rotary Has Heart,”  an overarching theme to raise the public awareness of Rotary and the work that its members do in the community and throughout the world.

In addition to Read Across America week, the Rotary Club of Sioux Falls South also supported Cleveland Elementary by donating $250 for their school unity project that subsidized t-shirts to be only $2 for students instead of $5 – an amount that made it more affordable for students to buy a shirt they normally wouldn’t have been able to purchase.
